Entry from: Chamonix, France Entry Title: "My first (lasting) snow in Europe" Entry: "First things first: we had no idea we were staying at a Best Western! We pulled up and saw the "Best Western" sign along with the Les Aiglons (which was the only name we'd found online), and were pretty surprised. It actually turned out to be the nicest hotel I've been in during any of my trips yet though, so no disappointment there. Chamonix was so nice to spend the rest of the week in, mostly because it was small enough that we could walk end-to-end in about 30 minutes and see everything. During the day, it reminded me of Galena back home, if Galena had snow-capped mountains on either side, but more in respect to all of the shops and little pedestrian streets throughout the village. The night was completely different though, but the fact that we were there for St. Patrick's day probably didn't help the situation much. All of the snowboarders and skiers come in from the slopes by 6 and the town takes on a very different atmosphere. It was fascinating to watch the transformation though, since the place was busy during the day with an entirely different age and interest group.
